Being a person with deadly, incurable cancer who is nonetheless still alive for an indefinite timeframe gives me an interesting metaphor that helps me deal with things like large-scale corruption in government or commerce.

Bear with me for a second while I try to explain.

Foul winds blowing across America.

Trump has removed Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Juneteenth from the list of days Americans can enter national parks for free. He has added his own birthday.

The president’s son-in-law is in on Paramount’s hostile bid for Warner Bros.

And Trump recently said he wasn’t a fan of the Netflix bid.

Cuz this is Trump’s Washington.

Isn’t this both ‘socialism’ AND a waste of taxpayer money…. 🧐
Old system: China pays us lots of money for our goods

New system: We pay lots more money for Chinese goods, China pays us no money for our goods, and then we pay even more money to support the people that China is no longer paying

People are dumb. Replacing DRC with bottles that have screwcaps is gonna be more noticeable than not replacing at all.

Be smart if you decide to commit grand larceny.

Tomorrow Hegseth will likely claim he has no idea who the actual Secretary of Defense is, and Trump will probably try to say it’s Biden.

Also, a good reminder that, while badly damaged, rule of law norms still keep popping up to bite the would-be autocrats, contrary to what doomers keep saying.

WHOA. Trump says he will pardon Juan Orlando Hernandez, who once said that he wanted to “shove the drugs right up the noses of the gringos.” He had people killed as part of his narco-trafficking ring, which he at times operated directly out of his presidential office.

If Bohacek makes it through the rest of his term, I'll be surprised. Good chances that, at the very least, he announces he won't run again.
Michael Bohacek, a top Republican in Indiana, whose daughter has Down Syndrome, just announced he will be voting to block Trump's gerrymandering after Trump used the R-word to insult people yesterday - it seems like there are still some Republicans with enough integrity to stand up to the bully.

So the actual president who was trafficking drugs is fine. But the Venezuelan president you want to get rid of that you pretend is trafficking drugs is not fine.

😑
He’s going to fight drug trafficking by pardoning them?

Trump announced “a Full and Complete Pardon” for former Honduran president Juan Orlando Hernández, who was found guilty by an American jury last year of conspiring to import cocaine into the US.

ok but he was the one who wanted to pull out of Afghanistan, at any cost, essentially giving it back to the Taliban. WTF.

Also, it seems to be that the blame should be on the CIA for this DC shooter, not the Taliban.
Qatar has officially agreed to the US plan and has given authorisation to conduct airstrikes inside Afghanistan from its airbase.

These operations “are aimed at eliminating high value targets, including senior leaders of Al-Qaeda and ISIS, as well as terrorist training facilities”.
