Now we're getting somewhere! This is the combination of 3 different sets of membranes for various #SEGA controllers hacked into a MK-1653. Now I just need to git gud at something on the Genesis to fully test this out... #rerrogaming
The workbench has been looking pretty rad lately! #SEGA controller testing continues. It's been a lot of fun learning a new Dpad and trying out the piano style playing technique #retrogaming

My Genesis to USB adapters were giving me some goofy results on my #MiSTerFPGA so I got the real hardware out for a bit tonight.

I created a tool to help genesis speedrunners use the #MiSTerFPGA. It converts savestates on their pc into savestate-like roms on their mister for easy practice sessions. It's still beta quality, but I would love feedback from testers. You can find it on the mister discord in the megadrive forum.

Dude, F this. I'm getting an ultrasonic cleaner for black Friday. This was the clean one too. I haven't even opened up the 3 button controllers yet. #retrogaming #SEGA

We got wires!

This USB controlled power circuit for the arcade cabinet is complete and tested! This delays the TV from coming on during boot up when the PC isn't outputting 15kHz yet and then turns the screen off when the computer shuts down.

Smol progress today. I got the speakers, amp, and coin box reinstalled.

Well, I ran into my first show-stopper, though I'm surprised it took this long. I should have realized this last night, but I got Japanese style wiring harnesses instead of Happ style. My bad! So much for using the fancy 20 pin connector. So we wait for wires!

Hmm, I may have cheaped out too much on the speakers, but I picked these because they were shielded (and cheap). We'll see how they sound in the cabinet. They sound okayish on-axis.

I'm getting ahead of myself a bit here, but I was anxious to get the hard part done.

The moment of truth! And it's... not bad! #intherelikeswimwear

It's a bit Halloweeny, but we'll roll with it

This IS my favorite part! Talk about delayed gratification though, I bought this control panel over 2 years ago! But today is the day!

I have like 3 more days of work left on the arcade cabinet, but only 3 hours of vacation. Time to start cleaning up a bit and put this on pause until the weekend. I'll keep tinkering with the software over the next few days and then pick back up with the control panel Saturday.

Well that was scary

Getting there. Still lots and lots of tweaking and configuration left.

The cabinet work is definitely the weak point in my skills on this project. There are some rough spots still, but it's so much better than it was.

Software day!

Ok, so it only took 5 additional convergence strips. And then my scart cable dropped red and caused a good 2 or 3 minutes of panic before I figured it out. She's real purdy now

Waiting for the 2nd round of wood filler to dry, hopefully going to sand one last time, and then get a coat of paint on tonight. It will be a late night!

This is not my favorite part!
