Once you're over the bridge the infra's decent to byers road or into town which is cool. It is slowly becoming a network.

I love to be our sensible elites, saying its legitimate concerns to believe all Muslims are rapists whilst hanging out with the pedophile on his island.
It's all a big elite white nationalist club, with the Republicans, Democrats and Labour all in it.
Zack Polanski's ( @zackpolanski.bsky.social ) strongly worded open letter to Wes Streeting, rightly urging him to rip up the Palantir contract in light of the Mandelson Epstein revelations

Yeah I've noticed that too. The socialist leadership have actually been really smart about coalitions!

55% of NY *state* dems say they are democratic socialists, 45% traditional liberals. (Manhattan Institute October 2025).

Therefore liberals should allow socialist leadership in NY state?
February 4, 2026 at 7:05 PM
And liberals will accept that there are times and places that socialist win senior roles? That it is possible for socialists to democratically contest leadership?

To give an example ->

I think you underestimate the socialist vote - an awful lot of cities seem to be electing socialists. I agree that coalition (or in the old lefty parlance a popular front) is needed. That can't be based on dismissing whole swathes of activists or voters as not representative.

New from 404 Media: the FBI has been unable to get into the iPhone of raided Washington Post journalist because the phone had Lockdown Mode enabled. Apple markets Lockdown Mode mostly to stop spyware like NSO. Here, a real world example of it stopping access too www.404media.co/fbi-couldnt-...

Lockdown Mode is a sometimes overlooked feature of Apple devices that broadly make them harder to hack. A court record indicates the feature might be effective at stopping third parties unlocking some...

Now that so much is documented and prone to being released or leaked, the only option for a billionaire paedo freak is to try and revert the situation, so that nobody imagines any more that billionaires can be judged.

It struck me that the internet has compelled our rulers to try and undo the Christian revolution.

Pagan Roman Emperors demanded morality from their subject, but were free to do as they pleased. The Church insisted that Kings and Emperors must follow moral laws too.

It's very simple, Starmer appointed Mandelson because they believed the fact he was best friends with histories most notorious peodophile would help relations with the peodophile leader of the US.

None of them seem to have paid attention to Victoria Road at all. People are complaining that there are *too many* cafes now.

I had one incident that scared me, someone else refactored my code with an LLM and introduced a VERY subtle bug into the authentication code that was only found in much later testing.
February 4, 2026 at 12:28 PM
They're really good at translating code. The author of threejs has ported Quake to javascript using LLMs! It might be that one translating one language to another is near enough to a single vector?

The answer is definitely no at current context-window lengths. It might be yes if they can fix that, but as I understand it the "compute" scales exponentially with linear increases in context window length.
February 4, 2026 at 12:17 PM
On the other hand it does promote fungibility of labour. A skilled programmer in one domain can very easily work in a language or area they are unfamiliar with, because good architecture is pretty similar across languages, and LLMs are great at syntax.

We already have a way to produce cheap code of unknown quality, outsourcing. I think lower-paid developers with LLMs will produce quite similar results to outsourcing. You can get stuff done that way but I hope you don't expect it to last 10-20 years.

I am still quite skeptical of their role in software (am 20yoe lead dev), when it works it is a miracle, but it regularly does stuff that is a long-term risk to the code base. We tend to learn about the problems with a software technique 5-10 years after it is introduced.

In this way, these Epstein emails reveal the failure of leftist anti-“woke” discourse. It failed to notice that anti-wokeness is a revolt of the bosses against the workers and that elite capture of *class* politics (in the form of producerism and populism) was afoot.
My favorite genre of Epstein emails are powerful people emailing WITH JEFFREY EPSTEIN about how MeToo has gone too far and the woke mob must be stopped.

They are still building the longer range network up wide roads with no destinations on them
February 4, 2026 at 11:45 AM
They have declared no cycle lanes in govan town centre, they're probably getting speed bumps instead
February 4, 2026 at 11:44 AM
Poor Govan and Possil - local "small businesses" have bullied the council out of building cycle lanes. Areas like the west end and southside will grow and be richer with their new transport infrastructure bringing in customers, while Govan and Possil will be left poorer than ever.

Bloomberg never allowed us to run this kind of flannel (in my time there) and the result was that I discovered the incredible power of saying: "... and that denial is on the record? Oh, it's not. Ok, well come back to us when it is."

Hot Take 2: if this is Mandelson's position, there is no reason for him not to issue a statement to this effect. If he has not issued a statement to this effect, the BBC's "understanding" of his actual position may be inaccurate. Stop letting people play this game.
