I don't remember much about the stuff I had to learn at school. But I will NEVER EVER FORGET Mr Evans, the teacher who just read us stories – pure reading for pleasure, no assessment whatsoever. That's the stuff that changes lives! I'm so grateful to him & all the life-changing teachers out there!

If it's helpful to schools and teachers, below is the link to a year's worth of picturebook assembly suggestions that have a focus on empathy, diversity, equality and inclusion. They're all books I've used and loved. #edusky padlet.com/Jon_Biddle/r...

Saw this just now. Love it! 🤔

Reminds me of what Dr Adam Fraser says: “small actions result in big outcomes”.

This morning I had an expert walk my counsellor cohort through current data on the effects of 5 hours/day exposure to social media content on kids and teens.
TBH this is demonstrably as bad, if not worse, for whole-ass adults.

Look what just arrived! I loved the PL and now I can’t wait to get stuck into the book and revisit the themes and strategies of this principle. @rosenbrock.bsky.social

Australia's segregated schooling system harms the learning of students theconversation.com/the-type-of-...
The type of school does matter when it comes to a child’s academic performance
The way Australia’s school system is structured is especially unfair on students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Am currently curious about the UN’s SDGs and how the various age groups think we are going in achieving the goals. If you have 5 mins my colleagues and I would really appreciate you completing this survey, even if you’re not familiar with the SDGs TIA forms.office.com/Pages/Respon...

This is a beautiful article about government education, written by the oncologist and columnist Ranjana Srivastava. She says that her polite, obedient and diligent Yr 12 son is the "product of three government schools" 😭 So moving.

What a great read! I particularly appreciated the way you called out the ‘five enemies of student engagement’. It’s so true! I love that wonder was in the first strategy to combat the enemies. Curiosity is key and we are so good at silencing it in schools!

Am currently curious about the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). How widely are they known? Do educators embed into curriculum? Which of the SDGs do our young learners think are the most important? So many wonderings 😬 Any thoughts?
