Just got back from #AWSreInvent and am back in snowy, cold Chicago. Still focusing on how AWS is all about AI infrastructure, and genAI dev tools specifically.

🧵Big takeaways (1/x)

Kicked off #reinvent2025 day 3 (and my birthday!) with the AWS 5k at sunrise.

Haven't been to a large mega conference since, well... Before 2020 actually.

Global scope of #AWSreInvent is epic - randomly meeting folks from Brazil, Taiwan, India, Israel, Australia, Japan and beyond. Digging this and haven't realized how much I miss it.

One big takeaway from #AWSreInvent so far: AWS aggressively branding themselves as the corporate world's go-to AI infrastructure partner.

Beet carpaccio and one of the best NA cocktails I've ever had (ginger beer, tumeric syrup, carrot juice) at the open source event at Hasalon restaurant #AWSreInvent

Is it really an AWS re:Invent without a chalk wall?

Taking a break from cleaning up after a Chicago snowstorm & attending #AWSreInvent this week with @pluralsight.bsky.social. I write Scale, Pluralsight's weekly cloud computing industry briefing newsletter. If you're around and have a cloudcentric story to talk about in 2026 - let's connect.

Wishing a very happy Thanksgiving to all from the wild turkeys of my hometown of Staten Island, NY and myself. May your Thanksgiving meal be amazing and the wild turkeys not loitering in front of your car.

Real talk: The platform isn't your friend. One algo change and your audience plummets + the people who want to see your stuff don't see your stuff. Audience email addresses are your friend. Reach your people, let them know what you're up to because I guarantee the apps won't.

Friendly reminder: You're only encountering one part of the successful, driven, creative people you admire when you hear them on a podcast, see their social media posts, or read their books. I GUARANTEE YOU, 100% they are struggling with things behind the scenes.

Trade journalism outlets: Your audiences are starved for industry information. The big outlets dont cover them enough. No guarantee the algorithms are gonna feed them what they're looking for on socials. Explain 1) What's important 2) Why it matters to your job 3) What you should do about it.
