DHS takes credit for crime being down in Chicago. Data shows that was happening before they arrived.
Immigration officials on Tuesday said a drop in crime numbers was thanks to their work. Police data show the decrease was taking place before federal agents arrived in the city.

The fact that this, and every other Trump pardonee who has subsequently broken the law, has not ended Trump's political career, that it barely even registers on the national discourse, underlines just how far we are from a functioning democracy that values accountability.
A man pardoned by Donald Trump for his role in January 6th - he assaulted Capitol Police officers with bear spray & a metal whip - has avoided prison for child sex crimes because of the president’s sweeping pardon, despite pleading guilty to soliciting what he believed was a 15-year-old girl for sex

Part of my issue is that Douthat and his kind (read, professional opinion havers) don't speak/write intelligible English. Nothing in that series of tweets reads coherent because not a phrase is upkeeped and the prose is useless.
"Events have their own mysterious logic" yes, wow, who could have imagined that "we must purge our beloved volk of the communist profiteers and race traitors who use cosmopolitanism to degrade the Fatherland" would just end up being antisemetic, truly just the world-spirit moving as it will.

Tech Billionaire Mocks Pope Leo’s AI Warning — and Reveals Silicon Valley’s Original Sin
A billionaire tech guru openly mocked Leo's call for moral AI — and quickly backtracked after backlash. It’s a telling collision of Silicon Valley hubris with a pope they cannot buy, bully, or ignore.

So every part of this is dumb but the idea that the Iliad is about 'fighting for princesses' is such a vapid take on a work that tells you exactly what it is about in the first (and last) lines.
You can tell the poem isn't really about Bryseis because her return does not resolve the conflict.

ok Big Pharma spends so, so much more money on lobbyists for both parties than Israel does
Big Pharma clearly does not control the government
why do people attribute things like the shutdown to AIPAC when clearly lobbying money cannot even protect Tylenol from being slandered

I do not think this is over. These moderates are soft soft. Internal pressure and a black list that puts them in the wild is basically what the caucus should do and it would work.
