Tánaiste Simon Harris will ask the Cabinet to approve the drafting of a bill to prohibit the importation of goods from illegal settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

The Tánaiste said he hopes it will encourage other countries to do the same in an effort to move towards a ceasefire.

Former US President Joe Biden, 82, has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

"The cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management", according to a statement from Biden's office.

President Trump said he was "saddened" to hear about the diagnosis".

Plans for a ban on stimulant drinks for under-18s have been shelved by the Cabinet.

A Government spokesperson said "it is too early at this stage to consider draft legislation", and that work needs to be carried out to identify public health concerns and policy responses.

As a result of the blockade, all UN-supported bakeries have closed, markets are almost entirely without fresh vegetables, while hospitals are having to ration painkillers and antibiotics.
