This is difficult because Die Hard IS a Christmas movie, but the people most insistent on saying so are really, really annoying. It's the "Bacon Makes Everything Better" of movie opinions.

Trumpism is a violent movement that welcomes violent people.
Megyn Kelly on alleged war crimes: "I really do kind of not only wanna see them killed in the water, whether they're on the boat or in the water, but I'd really like to see them suffer. I would like Trump and Hegseth to make it last a long time so they lose a limb and bleed out."

My 2 y/o son and nephew were playing on Thanksgiving and my nephew had put a FP Little People figure in a picnic basket. My son picked it up and was walking off with it. His cousin yells, "AHH!! THERE'S A PERSON IN THERE!"

I hate making this a criticism of the media, because murder is the story, but I'm racking my brain trying to figure out what the difference is between what Trump, Hegseth, and Vance BRAGGED about publicly doing, and the act Hegseth was doing with the reported "kill them all" statement."
The fall guy. Though he is probably also guilty of first degree murder.

I believe the following to be true. I also know it's an absurd thing to say.

One of the most insidious, pernicious, harmful institutions in the USA for more than a century now has been the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
just a reminder that *lots* of countries have universities, and (to my knowledge) none of them but the U.S. treat their universities as largely minor league sports franchises
LSU is paying its previous football coach over $50 million NOT to coach there while likely guaranteeing Kiffin something approaching double that, all while having an academic hiring freeze and budget cuts across the board. What is the purpose of a university (rhetorical)?

All of the cabinet members involved in killing Venezuelans on boats should be charged with murder, and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. There is no other way to respond to their crimes. "That's a political witch hunt!" Ok, so how do you actually deal with a politician committing murder?

The sad part about this is the girl gave her permission to print this and TP agreed to do that, because they truly believe she's cooking.
Turning Point at OU posted this girl's essay in full and man is it rough

Whatever your job, imagine the most noble reason you do it. Whatever gets you out of bed and motivated on your worst day. Now imagine that someone with no scruples whatsoever, someone lower than the dirt under a mole's asshole tells people you are a liar trying to kill them.
While Makary spreads bullshit about the origin of HIV.

(To be clear, this has been thoroughly investigated and fits neither the timing nor the molecular epidemiology of HIV).

There are 3 camps on the right wrt the GWOT. The neocons who thought we could spread democracy at the end of a sword, the racist isolationists who thought it was a waste to "civilize" "those people," and the racist interventionists who wanted to kill everyone and take their stuff.
stab in the back myh about Afghanistan. I think
What is with this idea that getting to do (more) war crimes would have made gwot easier?

It makes me laugh that at some point a consultant has had to sit down with him, Trump Jr, and Vance and say out loud, "Sir, no one takes your masculinity rhetoric seriously, because you look like a 15 y/o pie-faced dweeb. Grow a beard."
Deeply unsettled by this older photo of Mike Johnson with a beard.

I think @brendannyhan.bsky.social is exactly right in this piece, but I’d go one step further here. Elites very explicitly told young people to sit down and shut up. Society punished them for standing up for their beliefs, and targeted and vilified the organizers. Now we need need them.

I have a pretty low opinion of the American voter, but even I think that it's wildly condescending for him to stand up and openly say, "We're gonna wag the dog, aren't we folks? You stupid hogs love it, don't you?"
Trump had found an issue more unpopular than his handling of inflation - attacking Venezuela:

Really important to stress that the Crown Jewels of the US higher education system were never the Ivies or elite SLACs (other countries have equivalents of these) but the well-funded, large, cheap, and excellently staffed public state university systems bringing high quality education to the masses.
One of the bragging rights that the US ed system had in the 20th century is that we didn't have education tracks. Essentially, any kid could go to a CC or state school & major in whatever they wanted to (obviously an oversimplification). I fear this aspect of the American dream is dying.

Things people don't tell you about parenthood:

You will find yourself plagued by bits of (indigestible) food like flax seeds on the changing pad and wonder, "Did this never make it into the child's mouth and fall off his shirt? Or did this come OUT OF THE CHILD?"

I think everyone is way overthinking the Mamdani thing. Rubbing elbows with cool people so that he can pretend they are both very popular is one of the only things that makes Trump happy.
