I used to try to do something new every day. Try a new food. Try a new running rout. Try a new sport.
Today I threw the chain on my chainsaw. Never done that before.
Today I learned how to put a chain back on a chainsaw.
I got a two-fer.

Do you ever feel like you are supposed to be on a plane going somewhere instead of sitting in your car staring at the door to work and psyching yourself up to go in?

Cross training day:
10 min walk on TM @ 3.5MPH
Followed by two sets of each bodyweight exercise.
Squats 5 reps
Lunges 5 reps
Calf raises 5 reps
Glute bridges 5 reps
Low plank 30 seconds

Wasn't too tough, but this is the first day of integrating this in my workouts. Baby steps.

Run/walk intervals of 4 min run and 1.5 min walk x6 on the treadmill. It was surprisingly hard. When I got on the treadmill my watch told me it was a recovery day and I should take it easy. 😒

After this weekend's lackluster 14k run I'm determined to stay regimented in my training. Next up: Thanksgiving 10k. Goal is to run the whole thing without walking. The secondary goal is sub 1 hour. #fittnesssky #Runnersover50

Got in a slow 14K run to kick off Octoberfest weekend. Immediately canceled any benefits from the run by indulging in lots of beers, bagel dip and cheese conies. Great band to dance to and keep us on our feet after the run! #Fitnesssky #runnersover50

First outdoor run in a while. So much more fulfilling than the treadmill. Going to try to run this same route a couple of time a week while the weather holds. See if I can get a little faster and spend more time running.

As a Health & Safety Specialist in a bio lab, I regularly consult the CDC's website for guidance. RFK's interference is making it difficult to believe what I'm reading now. Any recommendations on science based resources to use in the meantime?

Took the last 10 days off (for the most part) to let my ankle heal up a bit. Nice walk on the #DearborneTrail with the wife (she didn't want her picture taken).

2 miles walking on the treadmill today in 34 minutes. Ankle was not agreeable to running today. Glad I did something to get my heart and legs moving to start the day, but my body definitely wanted a lighter day.

45min on the treadmill this morning. Had to cut it short to get to work early. 3 run intervals: 11, 8, & 3min. Wanted two intervals of 11 each, but my body disagreed.
Weighed in at 244, 1lb down from last week. Progress?

I did 1hr on the treadmill with two 10min run intervals. I was a sweaty mess and the display of the treadmill looked like it had been in a rain storm. 4.33 miles total. Ran a mile without a walk break for the first time in nearly two months. Baby steps to running a 10k.

Broke out the bike today for the first time this year. One easy loop of the Miami Whitewater park to knock some cobwebs off. Could have definitely gone further, but wanted to keep it simple.

My legs needed a rest yesterday, so today was going to be all about the bicycle. After an hour of mowing the lawn in mid 90° sun, I decided that was my workout. I'll bike tomorrow before watching the last leg of the Tour de France.

1hr on the treadmill this morning. Walking with two 8min run intervals. It was hard to finish the second interval and took a while to get my heart rate back under 140. By the end of the hour I felt good.

New Running Goal: 10K on the treadmill in under an hour by the first day of Fall.
I did one hour on the treadmill today and made it to 3.9 miles (6.3 km).

Triathlon training begins. I'm doing the sprint at Columbus Triathlon. Very basic pool work right now. 14x25m w/ 30 seconds rest between each 25m. I'm not a great swimmer so I'm trusting the plan to get me there.

A very slow Flying Pig Half Marathon today. When you don't put the time into your training to succeed, don't be surprised when you don't meet your goals. Today's race was miserable, painful and slow. Tomorrow I rest, Tuesday I'm back in the gym.
