“Don’t Ask. Don’t Tell,” my piece for the Pride Show in Aurora, is so special to me as a queer woman who served in the 90s. I was in love with my battle buddy and risked dishonorable discharge if I told anyone.

My autistic son was restrained and thrown in isolation rooms (a closet) for hours at a time because he ripped up paper. He watched peers dragged out screaming until high school. Schools that prioritize obedience over accommodation cause severe trauma.

Illinoisans deserve dignity, privacy, and the freedom to live without fear of surveillance or discrimination.

I'm issuing an Executive Order to safeguard the rights of those with autism in our state as Trump's administration threatens those very freedoms.
In response to RFK Jr., Pritzker to sign first in nation executive order protecting autism data
The governor's office said the executive order is in response to rising concerns about efforts to create federal autism registries or databases without legal safeguards or accountability.

Cannabis use predates the existence of the U.S.

Legalization is an Indigenous justice issue.

Often I wonder why I’m so good at dissociating and then I remember that my dad used to pin me down and tickle my feet until I cried while telling me to “go somewhere else” so that he could “desensitize” me. I spend 99% of my life “somewhere else” now because it didn’t work and I’m still autistic.

No lawmaker in Congress should be able to own, buy, and sell individual stocks.

We need to ban congressional stock trading—and I've got a bill for that.

The 1st wash of hibiscus tea turned out beautifully! I was inspired by Sophie Scholl and the White Rose to try an all gray portrait using tea and Payne’s Gray. #artsky

I love to paint with teas along with watercolor, and in my experimentation, discovered that hibiscus tea dries to a delicious soft gray perfect for dreamy background washes.

Imagine calling yourself the master race and have to resort to erasing the achievements of minorities to make yourself feel better.

For the 1st time since Oct, I wanted to draw today, but I’ve lost the last of my 4 pencil sharpeners and instead enjoyed the ADHD-fueled “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” journey that caused.

I enlisted in the Army in 95 at 17 to escape the poverty of my hometown. I left with a permanent disability and PTSD. Im disgusted that ANY veteran would vote for the Nazi stealing from them. The one who called us losers and is cutting off our services.

Instead of watching the Nazi lie for 2 hrs, I snuggled with my husband and watched A Man on the Inside. I was told it was lighthearted and fun but I’ve cried thrice.

I honestly didn’t expect to be on the edge of my seat watching a movie about choosing a pope, but “Conclave” was so well-paced and beautiful. The ending scene made me actually smile, and I don’t tend to do that. Ralph Fiennes is a gift.

Started reading “Their Eyes Were Watching God” by Zora Neale Hurston this morning and have read half of it already. Dadgum! It’s just beautiful writing! #booksky

I’m AuDHD so I both crave and loathe routine. I only feel human if I start each day with coffee and reading with my cat, Toph. She’s 14, merely tolerates anyone that isn’t me, and will peace the fuck out if I start talking to her. She is also autistic.

I’m watching Twin Peaks for the 1st time at 47 and realizing that my 13 yr old self would’ve made this show my entire personality.

Only an idiot would think we should eliminate emergency response in a natural disaster, education and healthcare for disabled children, gang crime investigations, clean air and water programs, monitoring of nursing home abuse, nuclear reactor regulation, and cancer research.

Veterans deserve the best health care available. At a time when the VA is already understaffed, these layoffs will hurt veterans. Unacceptable.

Trump must not cut VA health care so that he can give tax breaks to Musk and other billionaires.

The VA must rescind this order.
