“West Indies used to be the envy of the world but we expected our dominance to last forever and stopped doing what we were so good at. Now we seem to have given up.”

Andy Roberts, and others, spoke to @paulfnewman66.bsky.social on the state of West Indian cricket

It seemed Eberechi Eze was going to join Tottenham. But before signing anything, he needed to know if there was any chance of making a deal with Arsenal happen.

Timing is everything, and Eze’s couldn’t have been better.

The Dukes cricket ball dates back to 1760.

Dilip Jajodia bought the business in the 1980s and, now in his early 80s, is still running the company alongside his son.

So how did they react to the furore around their ball during the England vs India series?

And how many balls does one cow produce?
Dukes, cows, and the ‘grimy’ craftsmanship behind the cricket ball
Dukes, now based in a factory in east London, have been manufacturing cricket balls used in Test cricket in England since the 1760s

That’s enough now. Levy must go. His position is untenable. We can’t put up with his Mickey Mouse wheeling and dealing any longer. First Gibbs-White. Now this. The ultimate embarrassment

Personal redemption for Ollie Palmer, who came in from the cold to fire #WxmAFC into the next round with two stoppage-time goals.

In a series full of rumblings and spice, this was the most provocative moment of all.

When Akash Deep put his arm around Ben Duckett after dismissing him at the Oval, he was breaking an unwritten code frowning on any physical contact on the cricket field.

The fifth Test should have been a grand finale to a superb series.

Instead, it’s being played without many of its superstars.

It’s the inevitable result of cramming too much cricket into too tight a schedule - to the cost of players and fans.

Cricket likes to claim it is morally superior to other sports.

In reality it is anything but.

England’s churlish reaction to India wanting to play on at Old Trafford on Sunday - while understandable - proved it beyond doubt.
