Thought I’d do a small thread of some modernist homes and buildings you can visit in England. First up is 2 Willow Rd, Erno Goldfinger’s house in Hampstead, now looked after by the National Trust: www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/london...

📮For #PostboxSaturday here's a C20 favourite: the streamlined Type N, designed by Sir Kenneth Grange in 1996-99 as a 21st century version of the humble rural postbox.

Nicknamed 'Bantam' for its resemblence to the fuel tank on a GPO Bantam motorcycle, it was the last model to be made in cast-iron.

In the 1980s, when there was a gap in daytime TV, ITV would play classical music with a sci-fi video.

For a lot of people, it's been a weird "did it really happen and why does no one else remember it?" memory.

UPDATE: Disappointing news that C20’s application to list three site-specific dinosaur play sculptures at Teessaurus Park in Middlesbrough, has been rejected by Historic England.

Designed by Geneviève Glatt in 1977-79, they represent a rare major 20th.C public-art commission for a female artist.
