Read this, if you read nothing else on this topic. The right wing attacks in the OU situation are fully dishonest. Don't stand for dithering on grades regarding a paper that blatantly violated the university's own publicly stated academic policy.

this is correct. colleges and universities need this too.
This is just my opinion, but I don't think departments need to change their strategy for reading or grading student work.

Departments need a strategy for responding to harassment and attacks.

Well, maybe so! But as someone else noted, there are already procedures in place to allow students to contest a grade. What we're looking at is bad actors going outside of current structures to attack individuals, which can happen wherever students interface with university workers.

We need to know who is vulnerable among us and how we can protect them so they can continue to do their work with integrity.

This is not a "grading essays on controversial topics" problem.

This is a "protecting our colleagues from bad actors" problem.

Researchers who have been doxxed for their academic work have been shouting this for years: we need a plan to protect ourselves from concerted, politically motivated attacks on individuals. We need this at the grassroots level, at the departmental level, at the institutional level.

LEAVITT: The latter. Secretary Hegseth authorized Admiral Bradley to conduct these kinetic strikes. He worked well within his authority and the law.

There is a well coordinated national campaign targeting a single trans professor at Oklahoma University to get her fired. It's part of a broader campaign to push trans people out of public life entirely. It was never about sports.
