Pretty amazing how quickly things are moving with modern AI tools. I created a whole report, data vis and even published it as a website with a few prompts using Claude 3.7 claude.site/artifacts/f5...

genuine problem
Why doesn't everyone just move over to Bluesky? @zoecrowther.bsky.social told me that Tory MPs and people on the right have been made to feel very unwelcome — which is why it doesn't feel like a viable alternative to X for some parliamentarians.
Will Musk’s latest meltdown see politicians finally abandon Twitter? If so, where will they go? Or will the right-wing stay, as the left and centrists shift to BlueSky? @rostaylor.bsky.social and @zoecrowther.bsky.social discuss how MPs will use social media in 2025 ➡️ linktr.ee/bunker_pod

The world is awful. The world is much better. The world can be much better.

All three statements are true at the same time. Understanding this is key to solving big global problems.

We believe data & research can help us understand both the problems we face & the progress that’s possible. 🧵

Interesting comments on the assisted dying bill from Thea Stein at the Nuffield trust. I actually disagree with her comments that the bill needs to answer all relevant questions on how the service is paid for, training issues etc.
Nuffield Trust: response to House of Commons vote in favour of assisted dying Bill
Thea Stein responds as the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill is voted through to Committee Stage.

Great stuff, on the history of GLP-1 agonists "Stephen Bloom of Hammersmith Hospital in the UK injected GLP-1 directly into the brain of fasting rats, observed profound reduction in food intake, and called out GLP-1 as a neurotransmitter."

One of my biggest recommendations for academics who are just starting out writing for a lay audience - avoid acronyms.

AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE.

I know writing things out can be tiresome. But 99% of the world has no idea what you're talking about when you use acronyms, and that's bad.

As I predicted.. the stated opinion by GOP voters that the economy is bad flipped overnight

Republicans are feeling positive about the economy for the first time in four years, while the Democratic vibes have plunged, per new data from Morning Consult.
