I'm not really back on social media. I just felt like touching base to see how things are going, reconnecting with my networks a bit.

Things are pretty dusty and unused in my corner of the internets and I think that's okay for now.

What tunes are getting you through the day lately? For me it's been a combination of youtube ADHD focus videos and Slipknot played at high volume, with a side order of Devo and Missing Persons.

Happy AWS outage day for those of you who are also celebrating.

I'm going through my digital archives (bookmarks, writing, music, etc) and cleaning things up. Focusing on discoverability and things that give me some sort of feeling.

Backups mean I don't have to worry about deleting things. What would a clean slate look like?

All those laws and principles for software development you've heard about all in one place.

I'd like the site to have a 'random' button to explore it.

I'm pondering working more analog. The newish job is Sarbanes-Oxley locked down so there's no flow between personal work & job stuff.

More compartmentalization means tool access has to be more intentional.

It leads me to ask: What problems am I trying to solve where paper might serve me better?

Dunno if others do this, but I found it's a lot easier to find time to catch up with former coworkers or other online friends by creating an appointment calendar on my google calendar.

That way I can just make the times I'm available to hang out visible and it saves the "when are you free" dance.

Did you know your MacBook has a sensor that knows the exact angle of the screen hinge?

It’s not exposed as a public API, but I figured out a way to read it and make it sound like an old wooden door.

if zoom had a $5 tier that will just let me have an hour long meeting a couple times a week i would probably pay for that.

I think I found my new favorite font: Bookerly, which is used on Amazon's Kindle, but can be maybe possibly found elsewhere and installed on your computer. Maybe.

I'm so proud of every issue that goes out the door. 💚
The new issue is out! We are storytelling animals, always have been, always will be. This issue is proof that stories still mean something in our world.

What if I'm just not precious about it?

I get a bit in my head about making the presentation just so, but what if I just grabbed fonts and graphics I like and work I'm happy with and just...put it out there?

A coworker shared the Burning of Zozobra ages ago. An amazing way of releasing your worries (along with a small donation to the Kiwanis club that runs it). It's wild this has been going on for 101 years.

Burn is in 4 days, if you've got a worry weighing on you. I know I do.

It's been an age since I listened to Spoon's "Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga". I'm trying to remember if I first heard them on WXPN back in the day or if I found them on eMusic when it was still cool.

Anyway, it holds up for me.

currently mapping out a personal infrastructure that will help me publish my backlog of creative work, some of it a decade old that's never seen the light.

i bounce from project to project so i'm thinking central hub/worklog/newsletter pointing to the various sub-projects.

Currently watching MLB’s first woman umpire officiating the Marlins vs Atlanta.

Today she’s on the First base side for game one of a double header, Third base for game 2.

Tomorrow she’ll be behind the plate calling balls and strikes.

There’re no onions, I’m straight up crying.

I don't remember where I found this, but here's some excellent dark desert instrumental guitar music. I've been working to it this afternoon.

I wrote a post about playing drums, building muscle memory, and how that relates to centering accessibility in every product decision as something we do instinctively.

Building muscle memory for accessibility
