A powerful intervention from senior Lords figures.
The message is clear: scrutiny, not sabotage.
The public and Commons are behind this Bill - the Lords must respect the democratic will.

Ask a Member of the House of Lords to keep the Bill moving:

When Kirstie Allsopp is whining we know Rachel Reeves’ Mansion Tax is the right way to proceed 👌
Won’t somebody please think of Britain’s poor £2m homeowners? Oh, wait – everyone already is | Jonathan Liew
Contrast the furious reaction to Rachel Reeves’s ‘mansion tax’ to the response offered to those living with real housing injustice: indifference, says Guardian columnist Jonathan Liew

Plus sides to today: Two-child benefit scrapped. Largely progressive tax implications. Good market reaction. No big spending cuts. Nightmare prospect of cutting funding to net zero etc avoided. It's a left-wing budget. Those who say there's no difference between Labour and Tories are bananas.

The Budget should be compassionate, honest and fair

This research is important because it corroborates what we already knew - that when comparing the UK to peer economies, it has had a big slowdown since 2016. It does so with firm-level data and finds more EU-connected firms have sizeable shortfalls in productivity and investment compared to less.
Brexit has caused almost twice as much damage to the UK economy than estimated by official forecasts, according to new paper from a group of experts including a senior Bank of England economist

Coverage of the refugee proposals demonstrates why we have such a broken political system. Endless focus on left-wing anger and right-wing support. Basically nothing on whether the reforms will work. They will not, which is why we'll still be here having the same debate in three years.

If you can’t afford to pay a decent living wage - including to young people - then you can’t afford to run a business and employ staff. The wealthy have always exploited those working for them. That’s how they became ‘wealthy’!
Refuk’s Dubai Dick Tice whines the minimum wage is too generous for young people. Talks “fairness” till Marr asks for numbers, then looks like a clueless idiot. Refuk hates young people, pensioners, nature, people of colour, and even disabled kids. #ukpolitics
