Circe is the only firsthand narrator (so far) in the series … her love of sushi, coffee, and a good book (in lieu of her constantly dangerous detective work for the High Queene) is probably why she’s a fan favorite.

Monsters are there to terrify - to hold up the mirror in a story to explain, execute, and exemplify (for good or ill); to chastise the reader and the characters.

To create a lesson and to be its instrument.

(Plus, the truly monstrous ones are damn fun to write about!)
