I think @rickriordan.bsky.social and @camphalfblood.bsky.social would probably be tickled to know that I’m currently on a research ship in the North Pacific giving Daughter of the Deep a thematic re-read.
And yes, the wardrobe intentionally has a little orange.

Learned that an anonymous outside expert on submersibles did an interview with the OceanGate Titan investigation, and they released a transcript, with all the names redacted. The first line of his first answer? "I'm sure you're familiar with my film Titanic."

I’m typically a JetBlue loyalist, but taking a last minute flight on Delta was fine because I still got the Airbus A321neo experience AND I got a trading card.

Can blue sharks change color? 🦈🌈

Blue sharks might shimmer blue, green, or even gold, thanks to tiny crystals in their skin. These pressure-sensitive structures, found in their tooth-like scales, shift as the shark changes depth, reflecting light in different ways. 🧪

NEW: Hundreds of NASA employees have filed a letter of formal dissent.

"We are compelled to speak up when our leadership prioritizes political momentum over human safety, scientific advancement, and efficient use of public resources. The consequences for the agency and the country alike are dire."

This fucking thing is the most beautiful goddamn shit I've ever seen
This is a swimming sea slug. This type of slug, called a dendronotus nudibranch, can grow nearly a foot long in the Vancouver area where this was filmed. While they're often found on the seafloor, they can also fold their bodies to drift with ocean currents
