“We found large curricular gaps related to the administration of medications for opioid use disorder and treating opioid overdose and withdrawal, as well as a significant prevalence of stigmatizing attitudes. Renewed efforts are needed to implement comprehensive and destigmatizing SUD curricula.”

We had a similar problem in a clinical trial where we pre-screened 150 people for a treatment resistant depression study and had zero people enroll... there were so many exclusion criteria to overcome.
An article published as part of APA's 2025 Trends Report discusses psychedelics research, including an MGH study of psilocybin in TRD that saw the team screen 700 patients without a single one meeting inclusion/exclusion criteria.

Important study on expectations in psychedelic research: for patients with low pre-tx expectancy about escitalopam, psilocybin worked better than escit., but no such effect for pts with higher expectancy for escit. No similar effect for expectancy about psilocybin.
