repost this if an editor has ever saved you from yourself
An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.

Congress caused a judicial vacancy crisis in DC by repeatedly failing to confirm judges for DC courts.

Instead of fixing it, today it will vote on a bill to eliminate the little say DC gets on selecting the judges in our local courts.

The bill would let President Trump handpick DC judges instead.
The JNC ensures DC has judges who are vetted and qualified for the President to select. A new House bill would eliminate it and let President Trump handpick our judges without any say from DC residents. That’s not accountability: It’s control.

There is, as of right now, no coverage of this protest on the WaPo website or in their @washingtonpost.com feed.

So, if you (you reading this) want people to SEE this protest, you must share it.

Academics (including the journal’s founder) told Wiley to pound sand, started an open access journal, and Wiley just surrendered. I think more academics should tell academic publishers to pound sand. They are vampires.
Wiley officially closes the Journal of Political Philosophy, which was abandoned by its editorial team and shunned by academics after Wiley attempted moves that would have compromised the journal's editorial independence.

I love that former NYT public editor @sulliview.bsky.social is public-editing from the outside.

Wild that the Times effectively endorses Andrew Cuomo for mayor while implying that Bill de Blasio's mayorship was a disaster and thus a huge problem for Mamdani, when as I recall the main problem with de Blasio's mayorship was... Andrew Cuomo
