A story in three parts.
It bothers me how people dismiss Republicans as buffoons. The nazis were buffoons, incompetent and idiotic. However they had a massive state apparatus that was willing to submit, filled with moderates that were competent and willing to do their job. D.J.T and Hesgeth have competent underlings.

It seems that a lot of reporting has been talking about the eu falling apart and it being doomed in some fashion. Something worth remembering is that pretty much every major power has its doom being foretold. China will fall any day, the US is crumbling, and the Eu is collapsing. PANIC PANIC PANIC.

If Elon Musk ends up doing a Rudolph Hess and flying a plane into China, it wouldn't make things better... but, it would be very funny.

Having observed the reaction to Russian protesters during the early stages of the Ukraine war, I wonder if Americans, in a potential Orban esc future, will be treated with the same kind of disdain. I vividly remember the callous dismissal of what standing against Putin meant and means.
