New post: Controlling IP traffic on your webserver

A cool part about having your own webserver is that you get to choose who can visit. When IP addresses try to access sensitive files or aggressively scrape, you can just block them.

Here's how.

Analysts who excel at self-promotion on LinkedIn are worse at their jobs, but experience the highest rates of promotion. klementoninvesting.substack.com/p/self-promo...
Self-promotion works, especially if you are bad at your job
I have come across a recent paper that measures equity analysts self-representation on LinkedIn and the tone they use to describe their research and their views on LinkedIn and in the media.

I noticed someone mentioning that they couldn't afford "How Git Works" right now.

we have a "buy one give one" program where we give away 1 free copy for every zine sold. You can use code BUYONEGIVEONE to get a free PDF copy of How Git Works if $12 is a lot for you.

For all 3 of you that are trying to use pytest with uv, I learned this incantation that helps pytest use your project's uv virtual environment:

uv add pytest --dev
uv run pytest

(not `uvx pytest`, as I first assumed)

Great post that captures the tension between classic ML approaches and modern deep learning while acknowledging the nuances of both.

“Working with LLMs doesn’t feel the same. It’s like fitting pieces into a pre-defined puzzle instead of building the puzzle itself.”
