I will put in a plug for Linux Mint with Cinnamon. The UI out of the box feels virtually identical to Windows 7 era and is extremely easy to swap between Windows and Linux (I have to use Windows at work but use mostly Linux at home)

so about 3 months ago I ditched Windows for good. I have a couple of Windows VMs kicking around for hardware I use that requires it (programming mototrbo radios, an ID card printer from 2004 that I am recycling once the ribbon runs out, etc), but I am largely free of that AI slop.
