Half man / corporate shill. It was a website once, back when this fandom used to _make_ things. I may have gone too far in a few places. https://linktr.ee/rangerretrocenter

Back in May 1993, the original intention was to premiere Day of the Dumpster, the very first episode of Power Rangers, on September 6th, rather than the special presentation on August 28th.
The collar is even more pronounced in the design of KingRanger (as if the giant gold pyramid wasn't enough)
I believe the circuitry is a deliberate attempt to put a modern spin on the ancient motifs.

The OhRanger suits contain references to ancient Egyptian fashion, specifically the Usekh broad collar.

Traditionally beaded, the patterns become abstract in the modern interpretation.
It probably would have looked something like this at some point.
1994's Ohranger suits featured motifs on the chest, belt, boots & gloves from ancient civilisations.

According to designer Katsushi Murakami, the helmets originally were animal-based before becoming geometric shapes.

OhRed's helmet was originally a pentagon representing number 5.
I was offered this for sale almost 20 years ago. It was substantially cheaper than it's sold for in the last few years.

This interview with Jason David Frank was published in the Official Mighty Morphin Power Rangers magazine in the UK on 25th November 1995.

This was one of the earliest mentions of Power Rangers Zeo, before filming on the season began.
Did any of you actually get to go to see this tour in person?
I got one of these new at retail back when Boukenger aired. It was probably the last sentai item I bought that era- I sold everything off in the early 2010s for peanuts.

It’s pretty hard to get these complete in box in a good condition anymore. Cool to get one again!

So next time you see chimps or invisibility hijinks, remember, it wasn’t just a gag.

It was the ghost of a cancelled spin-off: ✨The Bulk and Skull Show✨

The Power Rangers comedy that never got its morphin’ moment. 10/10
And in 2001’s Time Force, the whole “wacky job-for-hire” idea was literally recycled into "Nick of Time Odd Jobs," the workplace for the Time Force Rangers 📦⏱️9/10
Still, the spirit of the show lived on.

Later Turbo and Power Rangers in Space had Bulk and Skull bouncing between odd jobs and weird alien hunting gigs echoes of the “temp agency” concept that never was. 🚚🎪8/10
But ultimately, the show was cancelled.

Why?

Execs decided Bulk and Skull only worked when contrasted against the sleek, serious action packed world of the Rangers.

A standalone comedy didn’t fit the brand’s action-forward identity. 😞7/10
