If you want an outfielder this winter, you can go sign some good ones. Kyle Tucker is obviously the best free agent on the market, and Cody Bellinger is going to be highly valued as well. While Kyle S...

RHP Roddery Munoz was a Braves prospect from 2018-2023, then went to Nationals in 2023. Passed through Pirates on his way to Marlins for 2024. In 2025 he played for Cardinals. In 2026 he’ll be in #Reds organization.

He’s been claimed off waivers 5 times before turning 26 years old.

The old ‘claim and non-tender’ worked like a charm, with Roddery Munoz. Showed their interest, probably got them on his radar, and got him to return to #Reds on a minor league deal.
The #Reds have signed RHP Roddery Muñoz and C Will Banfield to minor league deals.

Both players return to the organization after being non tendered last month.

Random free agent relievers with #Reds ties probably looking for minor league deals:
RHP Dauri Moreta
RHP Brent Suter
RHP Derek Law (missed 2025)
RHP Lucas Sims
RHP Buck Farmer
RHP Alexis Diaz
RHP Ian Gibaut
RHP Roddery Munoz

I suspect Justin Wilson, Jakob Junis, Scott Barlow get MLB deals.

Curt Casali’s time in #Reds front office was short, as he’s now an “advisor to baseball operations” for the Giants.

Casali was born around San Francisco, and now works for Buster Posey, and for the team that hired University of Tennessee coach Tony Vitello as manager.
The Giants announced that vice president of baseball analytics Paul Bien has been promoted to assistant GM. They also brought two former Giants players -- Curt Casali and Javy López -- into the front office as advisors to baseball operations.

Now for three years in a row, I have given you three free agents I'd sign and three I wouldn't, given what I projected their contracts to be. This year I gave you two bonus players! www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/...
Three MLB free agents to invest in -- and three to avoid
A bargain starting pitcher? Steer clear of Eugenio Suarez? Here are this winter's players to target and to be wary of, given their projected contracts.

Jhostynxon Garcia was going to be buried on the Red Sox OF depth chart, even if they moved Duran or Abreu. We’ll see what else the Pirates do this offseason, but he’ll have a much better shot at an Opening Day spot in Pittsburgh. www.mlb.com/milb/prospec...

LHP Brandon Williamson, who turns 28 years old around opening day, figures to be one of the more interesting guys to watch in spring training, after missing most of 2024 with a shoulder issue (Bennett lesion, a bone issue) before missing 2025 with Tommy John surgery.

We’ll see where he’s at. #Reds

#Reds bullpen:
RHP Pagan*
RHP Santillan*
RHP Ashcraft
RHP Connor Phillips
LHP Sam Moll
RHP Zach Maxwell
RHP Luis Mey
RHP Keegan Thompson*
RHP Lyon Richardson*
RHP Yosver Zulueta*
*can’t be optioned to AAA

I suspect they sign 2 more MLB RPs, one of whom is a lefty, and a bunch of minor league deals

I just talked to Emilio Pagan, who agreed to a two-year $20 million contract with the Reds.

I'm happy to see Emilio Pagan back. One of the ~8 or so veteran closers (65 career MLB saves) on the free agent market, and the one who obviously wanted to pitch in Cincinnati.

$10m AAV places him below Iglesias ($16m), Williams ($15m), Helsey ($14m)... with Diaz, Suarez, Fairbanks still in FA.
Reds, RHP Emilio Pagán agree to 2-year deal with an opt out after 2026, per multiple reports including MLB's @Feinsand.

Cedric Mullins, 31: 1.3 fWAR, +4 OOA, -14 DRS, 0 FRV. Career wRC+, 85 vs LHP, 113 vs RHPs

TJ Friedl, 30: 2.9 fWAR, +1 OAA, -10 DRS, 0 FRV. Career wRC+, 117 vs LHP, 105 vs RHP

I don't consider Cedric Mullins to be a #Reds target because he's a pricier downgrade from TJ Friedl.

One fringe #Reds player I’m higher on in 2026 than I ever was in 2025 is OF Rece Hinds. In 2025 I felt strongly that he wasn’t ready, needed playing time in AAA, but he had his best pro season (139 wRC+) there as a result, with K% down from 37.9% to 25.9%.

He’s upgraded himself to a depth option.

I’m really curious what DePodesta and Josh Byrnes can do to the Colorado Rockies in a few years. Can they finally cure the organizational woes, of a team with a home ballpark that plays so differently than anywhere else?
December 3, 2025 at 4:16 PM
With Kyle Schwarber, the most valuable thing the #Reds can offer is the ability to live at home with his family from April through October, with his kids.

Corbin Burnes made such a choice a year ago, surprising many by taking less money to go home to Arizona.

We’ll see how Schwarber values that.

The vicious cycle of monopolization:

1) Corporations argue that their growth is just part of the free market.
2) Use their monopoly power to gouge consumers.
3) Take a portion of their profits to make political donations.
4) Lobby against antitrust enforcement.
5) Repeat.

The weirdest move of the #Reds offseason so far has been claiming Roddery Muñoz off waivers, and then non-tendering him, sending him into free agency rather than trying to outright him.

I guess they got themselves high onto his radar for a minor league contract, but also basically released him. 🤷🏻‍♂️
November 24, 2025 at 6:14 AM
I hope the #Reds draft a relief pitcher in the Rule 5 draft, although I have no strong opinions on who. A $50k gamble on somebody winning final bullpen spot in spring training.

In the past they’ve used the picks on utility players (Bowman, Joe), catchers (Turner), and OFs (Payton, Cave).

Jonathan India: 89 wRC+, -0.3 fWAR, signed for $8m.

Gavin Lux: 102 wRC+, +0.3 fWAR, tendered a ~$5m contract.

One of those surprises me. And it’s not the younger guy getting paid less who both hits and fields (2b) better. Although neither is a LF. #Reds
