49 Afghan people are dead as a DIRECT result of the data breach. 52% of affected Afghans reported threats to themselves/family DIRECTLY from the Taliban. The evidence is now so clear, yet the Gov has no problem turning their back on Afghanistan. Cruel.

Even as the challenges facing the Afghan community are no longer making headlines, we’re committed to standing and working with Afghans to push the UK government to fulfil their promises.

However, we can’t continue this work without help from our supporters.

In consultation with Professor Sara de Jong and Professor Victoria Canning, RLS have developed a survey to collect lived experiences of Afghans affected by the Ministry of Defence data breach. The findings will contribute to the Parliamentary call for evidence on the data leak.

The surge in far-right hatred and racism over the past few months has been horrifying.

In the wake of the protests and acts of violence, we’re considering what the recent cabinet reshuffle means for people seeking safety.

We’ve been deeply disturbed by the government’s approach to people seeking safety.

Instead of condemning racist rhetoric, they’ve legitimised it. While cruel and heartless policies are being used to score political points and pander to the far right.

Today marks 4 years since the Taliban seized control of Afghanistan, plunging the country into fear and chaos.

An anonymous Afghan refugee has shared their reflections on the past four years.

Their article explains how Afghans have been repeatedly betrayed by the UK government.

RLS’s Basma Kamel and Francesca Parkes have written an insightful article for @freemovement.bsky.social unpacking the new UK/France agreement, and why it’s unlikely to work and will cause serious harm.

The UK’s Afghan resettlement schemes came to an abrupt end on 1 July 2025. Pending applications will continue to be considered, but this closure ends access to one of the few “safe and legal routes.”

This is a stark reminder that the UK is turning its back on Afghans it once vowed to stand beside

Legal aid in Greece is under severe threat. Funding has collapsed. Every day we see the impact this has on people on the move.

Our client, Diallo, fell victim to this collapse. His asylum claim had already been rejected when the lawyer who was supporting him lost his job due to a lack of funding.

The racist criminalisation of people seeking sanctuary must end. Here and across Europe, hundreds – mostly young Black men – are doubly victimised: first by the conflicts they flee and then by a racist border system that criminalises them. Report below 👇.
