I keep hearing political violence is never acceptable. These people were pardoned and are now called patriots and heroes by the right and the sitting president. Seems like they think it’s acceptable.

Watching the fascist rendition of Rumeysa Ozturk, I’m of course grieving that I live in a country that people can be black-bagged for their first amendment expression. But really gets me is that these evil thugs are imprisoning people for the crime of having empathy for their fellow humans in Gaza.

I have been thinking about this since the election. We desperately need this to fulfill some vital functions of government and to give us hope that good is poised to resume power.
Idea going around: Democratic leadership could ASAP name an "alternate" HHS secretary--someone to provide public updates and health information. And "shadow" leaders for other depts too, with press conferences, policy initiatives, budgets, speeches.
