My most interesting BlueSky Feed so far is "Followers". A feed of everything posted by your followers. It's a great way to discover like minded peers by the content posted and a better way to browse through new followers without clicking individual profiles.

If anyone is interested in porting mastometrics.com to BlueSky, let me know – I'm also considering open sourcing the whole project but would be nice to have fellow maintainers!

Hello to the Bluesky community!

We're trundling on in with an announcement; the Steam Autumn Sale starts next Wednesday, November 27th with deals on games of all types - from games that are blue, to games that are about skies, and everything in between.

I'm now hosting a small public instance of SkyBridge on fly.io to let people try it out! If you'd like to try using Mastodon apps like Ivory to get that Tweetbot-ish experience on Bluesky now you can

The bridge password is sunshine123

Please be gentle, I'm hosting this in London on the free tier 😭

bluesky has proven to me that there isn’t some algorithm on twitter altering our perception of the world we’re just Like This.

Someone explain me what the hellthread is?

Over at Mastodon, they really think the people here are idiots for being fine with one central instance without federation.

A clear indicator that the Mastodon crowd doesn’t understand people as much as they do technology, something they’ll really need to improve.

Also they don't get patience?

Maybe we should embrace that decentralized social media really means just that:

Countless different platforms and technologies fit for different cultures and usages.

vs

One big platform, app, protocol or standard.
I think the web may be a better place if we're all spread wide.

Bluesky is supposed to support that eventually - that's what they mean by "federation" - but the fact that they haven't shipped that yet accidentally addresses a ton of the onboarding learning curve issues that Mastodon has

Thought this would’ve been pretty interesting to look at so here you go:

There are ~3636 people (7.97% of all users) registered with a custom domain handle.
What percentage of users configured a domain name vs the default bsky.social?

It kind of cracks me up BlueSky is abbreviated to BS.

I had been assuming Bluesky doesn't have DMs just because the platform is still so new, but after reading more deeply into the protocol docs, I'm not sure how it *can* have DMs, at least that we can trust. I think it's a variation of the same "admins can read private posts" problem as ActivityPub?

we worked the week between christmas and new year to get mutes and basic moderation functions in to prioritize safety before we even got to 1k users. what you’re seeing now is the effects of unexpected hype/growth overtaking us. if you cannot deal without blocks, come back later. this is a beta.
