If you allow people to place bets on such minor things as "What kind of pitch will they throw on the first pitch of an innings?", you make it trivial to rig bets in a way that would look completely innocuous to almost any observer.
NEWS: Cleveland Guardians pitchers Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz have been indicted on a host of charges tied to allegedly rigging pitches thrown during MLB games, according to a indictment unsealed Sunday.

I'm old enough to remember when we'd get a new GTA every couple of years. This delay gets us to >13 years since GTA5 launch.
Grand Theft Auto 6 has been delayed again, this time to the end of 2026.

Feels a bit odd to be in "Most Anticipated" when you can totally just give us money and play the game today, but early access is funny like that. Anticipate away!

This seems to be another classic case of assuming you can solve any problem just by throwing money at it. Except in this case the only problem they seem to have identified was "Someone else is making money that we would prefer to be making", rather than any consumer need.
"We never validated our core assumptions before investing heavily in solutions. The truth is that gamers already had the solution to their problems, and they weren't going to switch platforms just because a new one was available," a former Amazon exec said earlier this year.
As Amazon's game business crumbles, the public is surprised to discover that it was trying to compete with Steam all this time
If you're wondering how it all went so wrong, former VP Ethan Evans might be able to shed some light on things.

This company is projected to earn about $13B this year (revenue, not profit) and they have already committed to spending over 100X that much.
It feels like the only two possible outcomes of this are to become one of the most successful companies ever within a year or two, or spectacular failure.

Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days now has 100 reviews from players who have spent 100+ hours in game.
One of them is a thumbs down from someone at 230 hours, who has since added another 60.
Maybe we'll win them over in the next update? 😁

Pretty pumped about getting this and also about playing something other than Silksong. Something that doesn't stress me out nearly as much ideally.

Every now and then I'm reminded that it's both legal and uncontroversial to buy a company with debt that is somehow owned by that company and not, as logic would suggest, by the purchaser.
It’s official: EA is going private.
The leveraged buyout will be financed by a staggering $20 billion of debt, which likely means some *aggressive* cost cutting is ahead for EA in the coming months and years.

What is it about gen-AI that makes people skip right over the "Does anyone actually want this?" step? It's a pretty important step!

Notice how it's always "OUR product could have an unknown number of negative outcomes, and therefore YOU need to be careful", rather than "...therefore WE need to be careful deploying it at scale".
Haha, so chatgpt's new agent feature has a warning that if you send the agent to do stuff, it may give bad people access to your data. Necessary, I guess, but if this is true it'd make it fairly useless, no?
I mean to me the main use case would be giving it access to sites requiring login.

Still waiting for the point where a company with a product supposedly used by half a billion people doesn't need tens of billions in funding to stay operational.
