This is beautiful.
In Mexico, I asked Lewis Hamilton about what pet ownership taught him about himself. A simple question... but one with a LOT of baggage in the #F1 paddock.

This is your sign to ask your questions, no matter what others think.

I think I agree with a lot in this but I also have complicated feelings about the utopian vision of fandom it endorses.
"Feed fanfic into capitalism, and it comes out shaped like capitalism."

@readingtheend.bsky.social dissects the trend pulling fanfiction through the traditional publishing pipeline (and what it means for fandom):

It is always very amusing to me when coworkers treat me swearing as an “I saw goody proctor speaking with the devil” level event.

Listening to this now, but want to throw out a couple recs! Ainslie Paton has a series where con people are Robin Hooding. I particularly like the third one, The Mysterious Stranger, which involves cult infiltration.

Hey, as a librarian I need to tell you:

Our funding depends on usage.

So go ahead and check out that book even if you don't think you'll finish it. No one will know. Check out that DVD even though you might not like it. Get ambitious in your quest for knowledge.

I have to say, it is a choice to pull out of a book convention on ethical grounds and then stand up your own one day event with a combined ticket price that exceeds the convention when the readers who your decision effects still haven’t been refunded.
