i always think about how growing up, Nascar was the 2nd biggest sport; now they're on the verge of not being aired on tv, Idk what could sabatoge the NFL, but teams popularity dropping after moving cities and airing games between 8 streamers might do it

i think the rampant sports betting industry is just a symptom of us living in the apex of the proffessional sports; athletes getting $100+ million contracts, stadiums costing 1 billion to build, games being flown over to other countries, this window isn't gonna last forever

i say this bc despite the squeeze being put on the internet, each genre of music now has 10 subgenres, each rich with their own communities thats too fringe for mainstream radio; Sabrina Carpenter and Chappeal Roan are barely on the edge of being safe mainstream artists, Taylor is the benchmark now

i do geniunely think the collapse of monoculture has led to its own subculture of "grocery store music," songs and singers that are confined to making music to be played in grocery stores; besides Swift the best examples i can think of are Ariana Grande and The Weekend
