Carlton Fisk’s 1973 Kelloggs Pro Super Stars Baseball Card. That season Fisk hit .246, with 26 HR’s, 71 RBI’s, a .750 OPS and a 3.9 WAR, making his 2nd All Star Team.

John Valentin’s 1995 Leaf Baseball Card. That season Valentín hit .298, with 27 HR’s, 102 RBI’s, a .931 OPS and a American League leading 8.3 WAR. He came in 9th for MVP and won the Silver Slugger.

Happy 75th Birthday to the “Hit Man” Mike Easler, who the Red Sox acquired from the Pirates in Dec 1983 for John Tudor. In his 2 seasons with the Sox he hit .288, with 43 HR’s, 165 RBI’s, a .818 OPS and a 4.2 WAR. March 1986 he was traded to the Yankees in exchange for Don Baylor.

Dwight Evans 1982 Kelloggs 3-D Superstar Baseball Card. That season Evans played in all 162 Games, leading the AL with a .402 OBP, while hitting .292, with 32 HR’s, 98 RBI’s, 122 Runs, a .936 OPS and a 6.4 WAR. He won his 5th Gold Glove and finished 7th for MVP.

Am I the only one who thinks Hostess cards actually look better when they look like they were cut out by a 6 year old on a Hawaiian Punch bender using rusty safety scissors?

On this date in 2014 the Red Sox signed Pablo Sandoval to a 5 yr $90 million dollar contract, one of the worst Free Agent signings in MLB History. In 2+ yrs with the Sox he appeared in 161 Games, hitting.237, with 14 HR’s, a .646 OPS and a -1.6 WAR. He was released in July 2017.

Happy 68th Birthday to Chico Walker who was the Red Sox 22nd round draft pick in 1976. Walker played a total of 32 Games for the Sox from 1980-1984 hitting .247, with 1 HR and a .641 OPS. After he left Boston he played 7 more seasons, mainly with the Cubs and Mets.
