It’s worth remembering, whatever you think of what they do for a living, that all of the top brass in the military have like three postgraduate degrees and just imagine what they are thinking watching this and getting implicitly reminded that they’re supposed to submit to this idiot.

working up "democrats must embrace war mindset" rn, but one of my beliefs is this: dooming is itself a reaction to the fear of responsibility. if all is lost and nothing matters then you can't be criticized for your choices. it's not "cold eyed reason." it's an easy escape. comforting
Friendly reminder that I block people who post some variant of "it won't matter because nothing matters" on sight. Not even because they're wrong, but because I find this habit of saying the most tedious and predictable thing as if that makes you an edgy truth teller incredibly grating.

It's so clear that there's a huge number of professionals in the US who carry with them traumatic memories of being excluded, laughed at, or looked down up on by the Smart Kids and who have basically made hostility to Smart Kids their entire personality, ideology, & worldview.
