I don’t think that’s a great argument. The main reason Bryce gets hurt, post move to 1st, is his extremely violent swing. And I don’t think Bryce would ever ok a move to DH. This will all never happen.
Ya Otto Kemp should never play a game in the playoffs; anyone mentioning his name is not a serious person.
Need a big time RHH IMO. If they don’t get one, pitching will continue to eat us up in playoff baseball. If they can make that in the aggregate, great (I’m doubtful) but their 4 hole stinks.
They get absolutely dominated by LHP in the playoffs. In the regular season managers aren’t managing their bullpen w every option available. They throw what makes sense and is available. Not the story in the playoffs. If they don’t have a RHH that scares the other team, we are out in the NLDS again.
Alonso would never ever ever in a million years play 1B over Harper. He’s horrendous in the field. You’d only play him if Harper was hurt but could still hit. So he’s only here if Kyle isn’t.
Possibly. He seemed to improve his LA in July but then it reverted. And he still has a very high chase rate (34% vs mlb avg 27%) which will make his pro transition v difficult. I don’t think other teams value him as much as casual fans or Dave.
Even if it’s half, you’re suggesting we sink $110mm into an FV50 C spec (that’s a league avg ceiling, not outcome), 1 yr of Crawford and a RP going into ARB yrs you’d have to pay anyway if he’s any good. There’s just so many better ways to employ your resources.
Yes, only landing spot for Miller at this point, you can’t stick Trea in CF with Bader/Crawford on the roster, and his contract really devalues if he’s not up the middle.
Doesn’t really make sense tho, you’re not returning assets on a $28mm/yr contract w 8 yrs left. You’d basically just be offloading it and then what’s the point? And he’s a RHH.
Yes but he’s not a low launch angle guy. He’s a 61% groundball guy. No MLB player in history has been able to sustain a GB% over 55% and be good. Here is a list of players w 500 PAs from 2013-2025 sorted by GB%. You get late career Ichiro at 54.5% and JC is not Ichiro.
I get it; you’re not wrong but I’d deal with passable in CF to not go through another playoff exit that features 1-2 run / 5 hit games. And Bader’s been on 5 teams in the last 4 yrs which is a noteworthy datapoint considering CFs don’t exactly grow on trees. He’s not a player that’s solved the issue
Also DD has an obsession with “athletic OFs” (see last 4 drafts) and yet we have none in our system ready to step up (Crawford will never be a mlb hitter w that GB rate), it’s actually hilarious that he just traded for that prototype
