If more private companies were like Costco (refusing to back down on DEI and now suing over tariffs) we’d all be in a better place. Credit where credit is due. Proud to be a Costco member.

Love this sign of resistance!

People braved the cold to line both sides of the overpass, holding a large banner reading “all welcome” while waving pride and Canadian flags. Colourful chalk art across the bridge read messages including, “everyone belongs here,” and “Canada looks better in colour.”

Of course. The consumer should always be the last to know.
Lol, Zillow tried to rate the climate risks facing individual properties. The real estate industry *hated* it, precisely because it worked -- it made selling risky properties more difficult. So they rebelled & Zillow caved.

Don't look up!

This, and also it makes me actively not want to listen to them because they don’t give a shit about the ethics or the anti labour position of using AI slop.

Like it looks like shit and is probably wrong and also I just don’t like you now.
I don’t know if anyone else notices or cares, but when I see a presentation in which the speaker uses obviously generated-AI images to illustrate their slides, it makes me immediately less confident in whatever other content they’re presenting.

* Steals good writing to make bad writing
* Gives bad, sometimes life-threatening advice
* Losing money like crazy

You don't grow the economy through trickle-down nonsense.

SCOOP—In August, nearly 200 current/former FEMA staffers published the Katrina Declaration, a whistleblower letter detailing all the dangers posed by current leadership.

All current employees were put on indefinite leave, and now I've learned one has been fired in violation of federal protections:
FEMA employee terminated for signing whistleblower letter
It appears to be a major violation of federal whistleblower protections and constitutional rights.

1. Break up corporate monopolies

2. Continue building union power

3. End Citizens United and get big money out of politics

To support indie publishers.

To support indie bookstores.

To support crowdfunders.

To support an ecosystem where there's not a high economic barrier to being a writer, publisher, bookseller, or alive.
do you have any idea how many books writers buy, just to be supportive. I don't always get around to reading them, it's fine, I will buy them all the same
