I know things are really shitty right now but yesterday my neighbors saved a kitten that was hit by a car and now we're starting up a Street Dog Coalition to help the pets of unhoused folks.
There is so much good in the world still.

The level to which my friends and family have rallied to support me after my mother's death fills me with equal parts hope for the future and a deep sadness at the way our society continues profiting off our isolation.

In order to dissuade bad attention-seeking behavior, I taught one of my cats to ring a bell when he wants to go in or out of the living room. Now he can summon me all day from two floors away by angrily slapping it.
