New research from @taxjustice.net shows that the "millionaire exodus" on the basis of tax reforms is a fiction, greatly undermining one of the main arguments against a wealth tax. Tax can be a tool for the common good and we urge the UK Govt to #TaxWealthMore to tackle inequality and raise revenue.
"I mean it's worse than spin, isn't it? It's just incorrect."
@lbc.co.uk's Ian Payne reacting to our research today showing that the widely reported "millionaire exodus" did not happen.

Make polluters pay! We're proud to stand alongside more than 35 orgs calling for 'polluter pays' taxes on the biggest culprits, so they contribute their fair share towards tackling the climate crisis.
It's time the biggest and richest polluters most responsible for climate breakdown paid their fair share.

Today in Parliament we launched our joint policy platform with Global Witness and @oxfamgb.bsky.social – supported by over 35 civil society orgs.

“Today’s statement reflects wrong-headed priorities from this Government. Cuts to support for the most vulnerable are morally wrong. We should tax extreme wealth to help pay for safety nets for those who are struggling.”

Clean power investment but huge airport expansion? 🤔 We need a grown-up conversation about what kind of growth we actually want for all of us and our planet to thrive.
Rachel Reeves' speech today highlights the contradiction at the heart of the government—pushing for growth while harming the planet. We need to talk about what kind of growth can create a fairer, greener future for all. Join us for a fairer, greener future justmoney.org.uk/join-in/

"We have been listening to the concerns that have been raised by the non-dom community" – the Chancellor Rachel Reeves said today.

What about the concerns of normal people who pay their tax and can't get a GPs appointment, or are on a waiting list, or whose child is in a crumbling school?

Incredibly timely letter from @patmillsuk.bsky.social on the dangers of the extremely wealthy influencing politics. @justmoneymvt.bsky.social supports the call for a #WealthTax now!
As billionaires gather at Davos, @patmillsuk.bsky.social released a letter signed by the ultra-wealthy, asking to pay their fair share. As Christians, we believe in justice and fairness. Support a fairer tax system for all. Write to your MP today: justmoney.eaction.online/WealthTax

Great report from @oxfamgb.bsky.social As the elite meet in #Davos it’s clear action is urgently needed to tackle growing inequality. @justmoneymvt.bsky.social we know this has to include a #WealthTax
The latest @Oxfam Davos report just dropped, and it's clear: the richest are getting richer while many are left behind. It's time for a #WealthTax to make the richest contribute their fair share. Let's push for action and email your MP & sign our petition: justmoney.eaction.online/WealthTax

about the dangers of govt considering more financial deregulation - we need the finance sector to work for people and planet not cause more harm.
Thanks to @premnsikka.bsky.social and all signatories to our open letter published in @theguardian.com this morning.

"Beyond a certain point, the financial sector can only continue to grow by taking excessive risks and increasing the economy’s debt burden until the inevitable collapse."
Economists and policy experts warn Reeves against City deregulation (I am a signatory to the letter).

A folly - will reduce consumer protection, encourage reckless risk taking, inflate asset prices, increase financial crime.

Walking into the next crash?
