To say it once more today: I think you'll be moved if you take 2 minutes to look through 269 institutions signed on here.

Yes, still a few notable absences. (Where is Stanford?) But such an array of *presence.* Big and small. Public and private. World famous and barely known. Check them out.
Now it's nearly 270 university presidents who have signed onto this "unprecedented government overreach" public letter. It was less than 180 this morning.

Making America like North Korea: “Australian academics refuse to attend US conferences for fear of being detained.”

Well done, America.

Fantastic thread here of not just concerning events (and I presume, cash grabs), but key antivax and science contrarian figures appearing as speakers (profiting via speaker fees and/or exposure to existing/new audiences)--some well-known, some new(er) to the scene. 🛟 🧪 medsky sociology
As a measles epidemic continues to spread, with over 500 reported cases, anti-vaccine groups are busy spreading misinformation. There are several anti-vaccine events around the country in the next month.

Tom is correct as always. The more the govt controls who gets to engage in commerce, the more it creates a supplicant class that grovels at its feet rather than holds its feet to the fire.
I sincerely believe that the current administration is not stupid about tariffs, and that they know exactly how chaotic this will be. They also understand that this allows them to dispense extremely valuable favors to businesses--in the U.S. and globally--who will really need them.

Between Marston and Marrazzo, it's a bloodbath for infection-associated chronic illness today. 🧪

Trump’s executive order canceling federal workers’ union contracts isn't just anti-labor—it's an authoritarian move, like attacks on media & courts.

History proves dismantling unions is core to consolidating authoritarian power. We can't overlook this. (Thread) bit.ly/4lpwEcv
