Submitted my first contribution to #Tiramisu today, feeling pretty stoked about it, even though it’s small.

That was fun! We learned how to boot up a new #Tiramisu app, add some interactivity (rotate the camera with mouse), and load a GLTF model from the web. Let's do it again next week!

We completed chapter 6 (I think?). A bug emerged in the JavaScript/web version that is a bit suspect, so I intend to resolve that off-stream. Next week, we will start preparing for the gamejam.gleam.community event!

I’ll do some pedant stuff and question the frame: move from software-as-object into software-as-boundary.

What is good software? What’s a good vehicle? What’s a good meal? What’s a good home? What’s a good school? What’s good land?

The answer depends on who/what interacts with it and how.
for context: the second edition of "Observability Engineering" starts off swinging with an opinionated chapter called "The Fundamentals of Building Good Software".

which begs the question... what IS ✨ good software ✨?

i'll drop my answers 👇 but curious to hear others.
@charity.wtf asked a great question on LinkedIn today. Her question was: "What is ✨ good software ✨?"

I'd love to hear your answers, but I'd also like to share mine. So if you'll allow me a moment of indulgence... 🧵

Local-first, if your app is amenable to it, is a way around the registration barrier. That said, so many apps are about sharing, collaborating and communicating (or the value delivery otherwise requires background compute), that accounts are inevitable.
It’s easy to hate on this, but from the product side, it’s hard to prioritize letting somebody create a bunch of data in your app that they’ll never be able to retrieve again.
Quick question. Why does literally everything require you to have an account.

Everything.

Wow, what a journey! We got through building the interference graph and ended with one step remaining to register allocation. I hope to see you next week when we can call this chapter to a close!
