I am not made to see my #race at every step. Being white, race is invisible to me in a very real way. It’s what is behind the idea of I don’t see race. We have the luxury or #privilege of not noticing our race because we are seen as the "normal" version of humans.

Time does not exist in #trauma. Some moments we live in forever. Ultimately we need to feel what we feel. Hopefully, with the passage of time we are able to reframe it, to #rebuild_our_narrative of it. It may take years of therapy and journaling and other #self-care or healing work.

Six years ago today I was in the hospital experiencing a #traumatic labor and delivery. I feel unsettled and raw. My extended family is in a traumatic period lately, also bringing out those feelings of being unworthy and unlovable. So I like to revisit my absolute favorite character and movie scene:
