I hope I am not too conspiracy brained to credit this to AI marketing:

Make the discussion about energy use, which is a low hanging fruit to optimize. A problem that can be solved and have a "mission accomplished" sign photo op.
it is absolutely unbelievable how complaining about water has somehow obliterated every real harm

How foggy it is today? The iPhone keeps asking me to clean the camera lens (it is clean)

I have an Amazon speaker at my home office, which I use to play Spotify on. It’s ok, but not great. Small room, I don’t want to put even a mid sized sound system in there. What are my options? Not looking to spend more than $200, can connect to a computer to do the streaming part.

Witnessed the cutest scene ever in the Berkeley Bowl today: a young Vietnamese looking person, prob a student, standing with someone who was probably their mom in the Asian imports section, with the supposed-mom visibility, kid-in-a-toy store like excited about the products: “oh, this is so good!”

Tried optimizing Elisp func that shows a visual bar instead of "%o" in the modeline, just to realize it was already stupid fast before I started.

The Emacs package I stole the bar idea from cached the position heavily, so I stupidly assumed it a good idea (dear reader, It is not)

New York magazine staff being uneducated xenophobes ain’t worth a comment (even if I made one). Instead, read this thread for some very good math dad jokes folks here made.
ruin your thanksgiving by reading new york magazine's take on mathematics

So this happened in Oslo yesterday. Four articulated buses got stuck in a roundabout.

That goes for stories about good folks as well.

Wired stories are often made to be about individuals, rather than the systems that enabled those subjects.

Their very good DOGE coverage another example of such.
I have an issue with a lot of Wired's reporting on a lot of online threat actors; they do good investigative journalism, but there's still a sort of systemic house style whereby they sensationalize and glamorize the perpetrators through presenting them as some kind of unique evil

Me and my colleagues spend a lot of time trying to make upgrades to our products (almost) invisible to our customers.

The HR SaaS our employer use to handle wages? Down almost every weekend, all weekend. Just when I have some free time to do my personal bookkeeping.

Enterprise ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I’m sorry but it’s hilarious that the walkback on the Gmail thing is “well, but they’re the ones *responsible* for turning us into a pitchfork-waving crowd who trust groupthink, fear the new, and freak out before examining evidence.”
