I’m not a fan of this uptick in retooling fanfiction for publishing. Fanfic relies on an IP foundation and exists in conversation with other fics and readers. Stripped of that, what’s often left are hollow worlds and characters that lack the depth to fully interact with their settings.

This is my official statement on Amazon’s decision to remove the ability for readers to download #ebooks. I also don’t think that allowing a multibillion dollar company to get away with treating their customers this way AND controlling what they can and can’t read is particularly scary. #amazon

The only reason I knew was because I got a random boost in royalties. It turned out someone saw it, took a screenshot, and posted in a Facebook group asking if it was a real book.
