I recently visited my old friend Rich Christensen. He's also a former colleague and one of my former students. He helped me with research for my #memoir project, but we also spent a lot of time talking about *his* memoir, which recounts the three years he spent #teaching in #Botswana.
ESTELLA UPDATE! In June, I hung out with my friend's daughter, who recommended a Donna Tartt novel. I'm pleased to report that I saw her again a few weeks ago and we talked about her #book recommendation. Here's how it went. #readmorebooks #bookrecs #writer #editor #thesecrethistory #donnatartt
Yes, there are tears of gratitude at the end of the video. I thought about re-recording and trying harder not to tear up, but as my friend Katie says, I'm in my F*ck-it Forties now. So f*ck it. Yes, I have some feelings. I wouldn't be #writing this #memoir if I didn't. (3/3)
People imagine #writers sitting alone in a small room typing away, and there's plenty of that—but there's also a lot that happens away from the keyboard. Truly, it takes a village, even when you're telling your own story. (2/3)
I'm not just an #editor, I'm also a #writer who is hard at work on a #memoir project. Today, I'm doing a little research and feeling grateful to all the friends who are helping me tell my story. (1/3)
We've been asking similar questions, have similar fears, and are reacting to what's happening around us in similar ways. Regardless of whether you're in a #publishing, this is a good read about what it means to be an American on the left in these weird, turbulent, and terrifying times.
Since 2023, I've been #copyediting manuscripts for Brooke Warner's presses. I've gotten to know her as a #publisher, one whom I greatly respect, but I don't know her outside of that role. This post taught me a lot about who she is as a human being. It turns out that we have a lot in common.

And now, the fantastic humans who, in 2025, are taking a chance on an #editor and #resumewriter who is still learning, growing, and moving forward every day. Then and now, I couldn’t do this without all of you. So truly—thank you. (4/4)

First, the fantastic humans who, in 2015, took a chance on a scared writing professor who was unexpectedly reinventing her career after being pushed into a professional crossroads and who had no idea what she was doing. (3/4)
I get to choose projects I believe in and pass on the ones I don’t. I get to collaborate with people I like and respect while saying “no thank you” to those I don’t. And it’s all possible because of my clients. (2/4)
One of the best things about being a #freelance #editor and #resumewriter is that I don’t have to sit at a desk for eight hours a day in an office with a controlling boss dictating what I do and with whom I work. Instead, I get to go outside and take walks when the weather is gorgeous. (1/4)
Congratulations to my client Adira James on being selected as a finalist for the Eric Hoffer Award and the Indie Book Awards!

#Resumes are limiting and imperfect, but a good one will pique employer interest and give you an advantage over other applicants. Send me a message to learn more about how I can help you improve your resume and land an interview for your #dreamjob!

Most importantly, I’ll ask the right questions to help you figure out why you’re the best person for the job. I’ll also format your resume to impress both hiring managers and the automated #ATS systems that screen candidates.
If this sounds familiar, you’d benefit from collaborating with a #resumewriter like me. (Yes! I offer resume/ #coverletter / #LinkedIn services!) I’ll be able to look at your career objectively, identify highlights, strip away fluff, and position you for the role you want.
Writing your own #resume is hard—I know because mine isn’t great. Like most people, I have trouble seeing the big picture. It’s awkward to brag about my achievements, it’s difficult to explain how my work has made an impact, and it’s challenging to condense my experience.
@govevers.wisconsin.gov has declared June 8–14, 2025, as #Poetry Week in #Wisconsin. Celebrate by reading Lorine Niedecker, State Poet Laureate Brenda Cárdenas, or whichever Wisconsin poet is your favorite.

I believe in a world where we can all be our authentic selves, a world where everyone is valued and respected. Because of that, I stand with those who are fighting for equality and justice—not just in June, but always.
