Today in the under 3s room we connected and disconnected different sized blocks by sticking them together with shaving foam and then taking them apart to Create something else. Some children made animals and others made trains ☺️

What an amazing turn out for Bookbug yesterday📖 🎶 thank you to all our parents who came along. The children had a lovely time and I think their favourite part was singing Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes really fast 💨👀👂🏻👄👃🏻

We had so much fun today playing with shaving foam in the tuff tray. We decided to add different colours and we made lots of circles, shapes and marks with our fingers in the foam. We used lots of different descriptive words like ‘soft’ and ‘squashy’ and ‘yuck’ to describe what the foam felt like.

This week we used our hands and cardboard tubes to make firework paintings. We talked about the noises and the colours that fireworks make in the night sky and we used our fine motor skills and creativity to make our own fireworks paintings.

We had so much fun yesterday doing large firework painting in the art area. We discussed the sound fireworks make and the different colours and shapes we had seen as we watched videos of them on the iPad. We can’t wait to display it on our wall 🎆 ❤️

We have been exploring oats in the art area and discussing the different sizes of bowls and spoons. We were able to retell parts of our new story of the moment Goldilocks and the three bears. E”daddy bears bowl is big” K “Goldilocks ate baby bears porridge”

Some of our children participated in Big Cook Little Cook. They listened as Ann explained the recipe and worked together with their mums to make delicious pastry mummy pizzas🍕

We participated in still life painting in the art area. We explored different colours, patterns and shapes of pumpkins and then painted our own interpretation of them. We can’t wait to display them on the wall 🎃 🎨

We used our senses to explore our Autumn water tray. There were lots of different smells and textures from the oranges and cinnamon sticks to explore. We used our fine motor skills to pour and mix things together. The spiders were a little bit scary but we were very brave and held them in our hand.

We made banana and oat cookies. We used our fine motor skills to mash up bananas then listened carefully to the recipe so we knew what ingredients we needed and how much we should measure. We mixed everything together then rolled our cookies and cooked them in the oven. They smelled delicious. Yum!

We were so excited to see Halloween stories and props in nursery. We listened to Halloween stories, cast magic spells and discussed what we do for Halloween 🧙‍♀️ 🪄

The children chose our new story of the moment. They each had a vote. When they had all voted, they counted them and ‘The Gingerbread Man’ had the most. We discussed the story and some children helped Nadine find props for it. We also watched the story on the smart board at the end of the day❤️

Today we went for a walk to find some twigs and leaves to make a comfy and cosy nest for our owl babies. Afterwards we had fun using our gross motor skills at the park, sliding, swinging and climbing.

We explored skeletons of the human body and learned names of the bones and what they protected in our bodies H ‘our brain is in there’, we learned our ribs protect our heart. We compared them to dinosaur bones and noticed we have the same amount of toes as dinosaurs. M ‘5, Nadine it’s the same’

We had our apple pie for snack. Most of us tried it and said we didn’t like it, some of us tried it and enjoyed it J ‘this is so yummy Nadine’. I was so proud of you all for trying something different. We discussed our tastebuds on our tongue and how they help us to taste what we are eating 🍎 🥧 👅

Today we were excited to see apples that Emma brought in from her apple tree. We spoke about how they grew and helped Nadine to make apple pie with them. Developing our fine motor skills and hand to eye coordination. We can’t wait to try it tomorrow 🍏 🥧

We have been settling back into nursery and establishing routines. We are becoming familiar with the snack routines. We love to help make our snack, learning skills such as good hygiene, safety with knifes, being responsible and hand to eye coordination as well as good fine motor skills 🍎 🍌 🍽️

We had fun searching the garden for bugs today and putting them into the bug hotel 🐛 🐌 we learned the different names of some of them ❤️
