War is in many ways a disability justice issue. The violence that ensues causes disability

Disabled people in war zones struggle to access adequate medical care or have their basic needs met

It’s a cycle of violence that often harms the most vulnerable (whilst also creating more vulnerable people)

Years ago I found myself in an ER with severe lower limb pain and unexplained bleeding/burns

My feet looked like I had walked over hot coals

I was given pain medication but no diagnosis or treatment

In fact, I was told I was “wasting a bed”

I begged not to be discharged 🧵
