Stuff like this blurs the line between journalist and influencer for a lot of people and unfortunately ruins the reputation of journos in some cases.
a type of content that makes me want to launch myself into space and is huge part of why everything is so bad: TikToker goes down a “rabbit hole,” makes 9-minute video. The “rabbit hole” was she found an Eater article. The Eater journalist did all the work: www.tiktok.com/t/ZTruBS8cp/
allow me to take you on a journey where, once again, we learn we have no idea what’s in our food. at least we know corporations are pure of heart so I’m sure it’s fine🫶🏼🤡

I'm a sucker for the sandbox/simulated world Streets of Fortuna is going for, can't wait to check it out and see how it feels.
Steal, sneak and persuade your way through the simulated city of Fortuna.

Another day where I found a Google AI overview that cites my guide and makes up incorrect information. I doubt it applies, but I wonder if this will ever lead to libel lawsuits.

Hearing about ram prices reminds me of when I got an eBay scammer to pay me for a 3080 ti. This was when GPU prices were insane, so I guess it's time to pull that off again haha.

Regarding the indie game coverage conversation, I'm just thinking of how many indie-focused media sites have shut down over the years. And that's from before Google nuked us all.

yeah the harsh reality is that we do take a chance on small games no one's heard of a lot more often than anyone thinks we do. but literally no one reads the articles, which then reinforces to the powers that be that they're not worth doing. I don't know how to solve that problem!

Why are so many government websites garbage? I'm trying to pay my student loan and I can't log in because it's stuck in a loop. Reminds me of all the 404 pages I've hith on New York gov sites too.

I've said it before, but I hate trying to search popular Discord channels for information. I'm trying to find information on a game with 1.5m members in their Discord, and every result is unrelated repeated messages from the same person.

im dying here

I'll never understand the take that game journalists don't like games. It's wild there are people that believe that 🤦‍♂️

While I wish I didn't get spam emails at all, I occasionally get extremely random ones to my business accounts. When it's not a scam, it's a pitch to get custom-branded chocolates haha.

Not sure if I'll get a code or not for the Bannerlord War Sails DLC, so I'll have to wait and see, but maybe I'll buy it later so I'm not too behind on writing guides. At least there are a lot of neat changes for the main game as well. store.steampowered.com/news/app/261...

Far from the first time Google is using AI to make up information and attributing it to websites, ruining their reputation. I've seen this a few times with gaming guides I've written where the AI overviews are outright wrong while citing me. It's frustrating.
NEW: AI “recipe slop” is overrunning search and social. Food creators say Google’s AI Overviews and glossy fake food pics are drowning out real, tested recipes — collapsing traffic and setting home cooks up for disaster, especially this Thanksgiving.
