Pre-trial hearings are usually empty for most cases. The Luigi Mangione hearings, on the other hand, are happening in a packed courtroom — and not everyone is happy about the coverage.

My constituent, Wilmer, was mauled by an ICE attack dog despite the fact that, as he has consistently explained, he was not resisting arrest or trying to flee—his wife and young children, all U.S. citizens, were forced to watch helplessly as Wilmer was violently attacked and dragged away.

Good point. Who does Hegseth think he's deterring with his performative murders? Drug dealers? Hostile state actors? Real terrorists? What possible benefit could the murders have? The main consequence is to degrade the US military from within, which benefits Putin and Xi.
