A Palantir billionaire just called for public hangings.

“It's time to bring back masculine leadership to protect our most vulnerable,” writes Joe Lonsdale.

This is where Silicon Valley authoritarianism is heading:

At some point politicians and commentators in Europe might want to start defending our system as really not too bad and far better than any realistic alternative notwithstanding frustration that we aren't all richer.

This is not burden-sharing or even burden-shifting. It is the US abdicating its role in European security at the time when the threat is greater than at any time since the end of the Cold War. Europe must plan how to defend itself - starting by integrating Ukraine into planning & force structures.

My reflex is to avoid calling it "rejoining". Just tell people you've got a great idea and list the benefits, they'll bite your arm off.

It is by sheer luck that Russian reckless sabotage has not resulted in a major, uningorable, mass fatal incident in Western Europe.
Quite breathtaking story - military grade drones at Dublin airport which flew on the path Zelensky's plane took. The drones reached the flight path of his plane exactly the time it should have been there, but just missed it because Zelensky arrived ahead of schedule:
Four unidentified military-style drones breached no-fly zone to target Zelenskyy's arrival in Dublin
Gardaí are investigating whether the drones took off from land in Dublin or from an undetected ship.

Just a vicious, lawless regime.

The spectacle of masked gangs of state vigilantes, ripping people out of cars in full view of the street, is a terrible reminder of how quickly the unthinkable can become normal in a democratic society.
Agents in Key Largo, Florida ripped this woman wearing medical scrubs out of her car as she screamed she is a US citizen. Agents cuffed her and put her in one of their cars.

She was eventually let go, per David Goodhue of the Miami Herald, who also took this footage:

Remember: Trump or Russian propagandists might say otherwise, but Putin is not winning, and the Ukrainians are not losing.
I am told that internal Ukrainian army information shows that more than 26,000 Russian soldiers were killed or critically wounded in the month of November. Confirmed by videos. No wonder Putin wants to get Trump to give him territory for free

Quality BM joke:

BM and NF are chatting over the fence between their identical semi-detached homes.

NF: Of course, my house is worth much more than yours.
BM: How so? They're the same.
NF: Because mine isn't next door to NF.
ITV are now asking Farage about his schoolboy comments and Farage is talking over the correspondent and instead ranting about Bernard Manning and how Manning appeared on ITV in the past. This is all quite odd.

1. Jared Kushner's trip to Moscow yesterday was not just unethical; it was illegal.

You cannot accept tens of millions of dollars from foreign governments and simultaneously conduct high-level diplomacy for the federal government.

It says it right in the Constitution.
Kushner’s Moscow mission wasn’t just corrupt. It was unconstitutional.
Jared Kushner, President Trump’s son-in-law, has been traveling the world to participate in high-stakes foreign policy negotiations on behalf of the president.

Interesting to see where Kemi Badenoch gets her news.

It's always someone else's fault? She literally denies any association with the *checks notes* Conservative Party pre-her.
The OBR is run independently from Government. It literally was somebody else's fault.

You'd think Kemi Badenoch would know that given her own party created it in Government, but apparently not

Think this is exactly right - political journalism that is completely abstracted from policy, which was not the norm before 2017, has become the default. Impossible to have a serious attempt to either shrink what the state does or widen the tax base (have to do at least one) on that basis.
All this budget news, claims, counter claims is confusing, but two things of consequence.

1. We're all talking about that, not any financial benefits (or losses) of the budget.

2. Yet more focus on the very weird few weeks and politics of it all. Starting to feel dangerously like a norm.
