But also maybe they should ruin his life?

A guy asking Epstein for advice on how to sexually harass a junior colleague knows exactly what Epstein was and was clearly OK with it. I am frankly OK with someone ruining his life.

Evidently it ought to have happened decades ago.
Larry Summers is 70. Firing him is not ruining his life.

It's very... interesting, I guess... that every article about Trump and the Epstein files has almost exactly the same disclaimer.

Why is it, I wonder, that they all have the same language? All of them. Every time. You've seen it too, haven't you?

Don't forget. Donald Trump is dead. He died two months ago. He is dead.
I'm so glad Donald Trump is dead. I mean, JD Vance as president is not an improvement, but at least he doesn't have the cult following and nobody likes him. Anyway, long may Trump burn.

Remember when John McCain defied his party to save the ACA?

Now notice how Chuck Schumer has defied his party to crush it.

A little bit of good news is that the Senate is amending the House funding bill to extend it into January, which means the House has to return to session in order to end the shutdown. Which means... Johnson is running out of excuses not to swear in Congressmember Adelita Grijalva.

How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

Every Democrat who votes for this CR needs their name added to the primary list. Get rid of them. They are capitulating on the only thing they ever claimed to be fighting for, in exchange for... nothing. I mean, a promise to vote on the ACA subsidies later, which is a stupid thing to accept.

pre-writing a devastating obituary for your enemy is god-tier hating of a kind you don’t often see anymore. renaissance haterism. beautiful stuff.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

I remember reading about how identity papers in some places include ethnic group or religion and thinking "huh the only reason to do that would be to make it easier to discriminate" and then realizing the same thing applies to gender markers.

Something else on my mind... Republicans care very much about winning. It doesn't matter what the competition is, they want to win it. It's deep in their psyche.

But winning an election isn't about winning. Most people realize it's about more than that, and if you OFFER them more, they may take it.

heads up to anyone who holds trans kids near: amy harmon from the nyt is searching for and having a hard time finding people to interview to find out exactly what trans kids are doing when their care is limited or cut off, and for purposes of community safety, please shut the fuck up around her.

The unending irony of Republicans. They are claiming that Prop 50 in California violates the Voting Rights Act's prohibition of racial gerrymandering while simultaneously arguing elsewhere (and for decades) that the prohibition of racial gerrymandering is unconstitutional.

Now is also a time to celebrate ranked-choice voting. Our traditional plurality system makes most people happy IF AND ONLY IF someone gets a majority. Ranked-choice reaches exactly the same conclusion if someone gets a majority, but otherwise it makes the largest number of people least-unhappy.

The thing I like most about Mamdani winning is that he's exactly what we've said we wanted for years, and he's proved that it's what MOST people want. We want better lives. We do not have to accept our suffering, and we do not have to sacrifice our happiness just so long as others sacrifice more.

Old and busted Democrats: We have to stop Donald Trump and only you can do it by donating $5 today in response to this email!

New and bussin' Democrats: Hey I think we should make it so everyone can afford a place to live and food and healthcare and stuff.

This headline is a lie. There is no divide. Trans rights are human rights and that's a hill I will die on. There is not now, nor has there ever been, nor will there ever be, an LGBTQ+ collective action movement of any consequence without trans people in the heart of it.
In which a straight woman highlights a bunch of known anti trans activists and claims there's a divide in the queer community.

It's pure propaganda and gaslighting.

"You're the reason your parents support abortion."
Remember, gang, if you’re yelling insults at ICE, stick to things that will be deeply humiliating if they’re read aloud in court. Consider “Your parents only love you out of obligation, not because they like you,” “l bet you jerk off to the Teletubbies” and of course, the Yo Mama joke.
It's not just here but in some charged threat cases where DOJ is treating, "you're a Nazi" or "you're a fascist" as a threat rather than a reasonable observation.
