About 50 roundabouts, a couple of hairpin bends and an hour after leaving the airport by taxi, we’ve arrived at the Melia Paradisus Fuerteventura hotel. Almost 10pm, the sky is pitch black, starlit and it feels warm, 20C – pretty good for the middle of October compared to chilly autumn nights in Scotland.
